From Overwhelmed to Relaxed: Saje's Training Journey
Some dogs struggle with the environment. Saje struggled with both her environment and her equipment, and for nearly a year, her family didn't know there was another way.
The Problem: Fighting the Walk Before It Even Started
Saje hated her head halter. She protested constantly, tried to pull it off, and whimpered through most of every walk. It wasn't enjoyable for her or her family, but it was the tool they'd been told to use, so they stuck with it. Layered on top of that was reactivity to a long list of everyday triggers: dogs, squirrels, trucks. The result was a very short list of places Saje could actually go.
What Actually Changed Things
Saje needed two things at once: a change in equipment, and a completely different framework for how walks worked. Through one-on-one dog training, Saje and her family learned an approach built on structure instead of struggle — replacing constant management with clear, consistent guidance.
The Result
Saje can now handle busy, high-trigger environments with confidence, including a crowded seawall filled with exactly the kinds of distractions that used to overwhelm her. Her story is proof that with the right tools and consistency, a dog can go from easily spooked to genuinely calm.
